This page covers how to set up and maintain SAH services in Visualcare, including service creation, mapping to SAH types, updating charge rates, and finding agreements with special pricing.

Setting up SAH services

Creating and editing services

Create new SAH services or edit existing ones under MaintenanceServicesAll Services. From here you can update:
  • Charge and pay rates
  • Accounting codes
  • Service descriptions
To create or update services in bulk, use the Import CSV function under MaintenanceServicesAll Services. See Import CSV for file format details.

Mapping services to SAH types

For a service to be claimable under SAH, it needs to be linked to a government SAH service type:
  1. Open the service under MaintenanceServices
  2. Set the Service Type to Support at Home - this reveals the SAH Service field
  3. Select the correct SAH service from the field
To map services in bulk, use an Import CSV file with an SAH service code column. See Service management for details.

Updating charge rates

To update charge rates across multiple services:
  1. Go to MaintenanceServicesUpdate Charge Rates
  2. Select the effective date
  3. Click Update
The All services option updates every service, including those with manually overridden rates. If you have services with custom pricing, update those individually rather than using the bulk update.

Finding agreements with special rates

To identify client agreements where charge rates have been manually overridden:
  1. Go to ClientsAgreements
  2. Click Show all items
  3. Drag the Override Charge Rates column into the table view
  4. Filter the column to YES
This gives you a list of agreements where standard rates do not apply, making it easier to review and maintain custom pricing.

Frequently asked questions

The government does not currently specify separate SAH services by day of the week or time of day. Providers set unit prices that account for time-of-day and weekend rate variations. Capped pricing, which is expected in 2026, is likely to address this. For more information, see the Support at Home Pricing Resources on the Department of Health website.
Set pricing from the government is expected from July 2026. Until then, providers set their own prices. The 10% care management fee and other contribution rules remain as per current government guidance.
Updating a “parent” SAH service charge rate overrides the rate on the linked “child” HCP original service. If you need to maintain different rates for the same service under different scenarios, update them individually rather than via the parent service.
